Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop
with Zarek Silberschmidt
Approach the guitar as its own full band: Support the melody with accompaniment, bass, percussion... and step into a way of playing called "Fingerstyle". Drop your pick for a couple of hours and join us to learn some cool fingerstyle techniques and composition ideas for the acoustic guitar!
This very special workshop takes place on Saturday, October 19th and is held by Zarek Silberschmidt. He's a world class acoustic guitarist originally from New Zealand. Today he is based in Basel and touring all over the world with his own music.
The workshop is held in English but Zarek also speaks a little German.

Zarek is a full-time freelance musician in both solo and ensemble contexts as well as Studio, Composition, Performance and Music Education.
Zarek’s unique playing and adaptability comes from his nontraditional approach to music and guitar. His musical versatility and curiosity has brought Zarek to work in styles of Solo Guitar, Gypsy Jazz, Dixieland, Fingerstyle and traditional Jazz. While Zarek’s musical expression is primarily instrumental his musical dexterity makes the strings sing, giving the guitar its very own voice.

Fingerstyle techniques to enhance your playing: Harp Harmonics, Back Beats, Right Hand Rolls and Techniques, ‘Boom Chick’ Playing, Rasgueado.
Composing For Fingerstyle Guitar: Inspiration, technique, composition - How they work together to help you compose. Exploring the world of open tunings. And of course bring your own questions!
- Pre-requisites
- Whether you simply know your guitar basics (i.e. can play basic chords or power chords, strumming, picking) or are a more advanced player, there will be plenty to experience & learn for all levels in this intimate workshop. Enthusiasm prevails over skill so that everyone can walk away having learned something new. You will be encouraged to push your limits & gain confidence whatever your level of playing & ability.
